about
Back In June is a song about escaping. About daydreaming. Leaving behind all your stress, obligations, society, promises and distractions. But the same time not being able to cut yourself loose from all this indefinately. I know the feeling all too well...
I wrote the music and most of the lyrics to this song in 2001. Never recorded it, until Dave Marriner and Jono Fosh helped me to rewrite the lyrics. We recorded several demo versions, a full orchestrated version, and this one. This version was marked 'best'.

Lyrics: Maarten van Praag/Dave Marriner/Jono Fosh
I wonder what it would be like
To disappear for a moment
To hide between space and time
To save my own day
From the papers that lie, to the forests that die
From the holes in the sky and my shoes
Hey, say goodbye, I’m leaving
Hey, I’ll take a trip to the moon
But I’ll be back in June
Break the chains that hold me down
Shake the curse that is winter
To cast my troubles on the ground
Lift my eyes to the place
Where gravity is spun between the earth and the sun
There’s an infinite silence that’s calling me on
From the chaos and cars to the brilliant stars
I’ll be on my way soon
Hey, say goodbye, I’m leaving
Hey, I’ll take a trip to the moon
But I’ll be back in June
So if you miss me, search the skies
I’ll be out there somewhere, somewhere that feels right
I’ll send you a postcard, from the moon
Saying I won’t be long dear, I’ll be back in June
From the papers that lie, to the forests that die
From the holes in the sky and my shoe
Hey, say goodbye, I’m leaving, hey, I’’ll take a trip to the moon
But I’ll be back in June
Na na na…
